Psychiatrist
Dr Matt Paradise is a consultant psychiatrist specialising in older adults’ mental health, memory and cognitive disorders. He is the founder of the Saje Memory Clinic and a Senior Staff Specialist at Concord Hospital, where he leads the psychogeriatric consultation-liaison service. Matt has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of memory difficulties, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and psychosis in later life. He trained in the UK and Australia and holds the RANZCP Advanced Certificate in Psychiatry of Older Age, a Master’s in Psychiatric Research from University College London and a PhD from UNSW in vascular cognitive impairment and brain imaging. Matt is an affiliate Senior Lecturer at both UNSW and the University of Sydney. At UNSW he is part of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing, and at the University of Sydney's Brain and Mind Centre he has held senior research and clinical leadership roles, including as Medical Lead of the Virtual Memory Clinics program. As a clinician-researcher, his work focuses on improving the diagnosis of cognitive disorders and translating research into better clinical care. His research interests include vascular contributions to cognitive impairment, brain imaging, late-life depression, dementia risk reduction and improving access to high-quality memory assessment. His approach is thorough, collaborative and practical, with an emphasis on understanding the whole person.
