The questions our intake team hears most often, answered as plainly as we can. If you don't see yours here, just ask — call, text, or message us.

If you are expereincing a crisis and need to talk to someone straight away, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14, or dial 000 for emergency.
While our Care Coordinators are available to to speak with you, we are not a crisis service.
No. You don't need a referral to contact us or to make an appointment. A referral allows Medicare rebates for some services (psychology, psychiatry), but it's not required to start. If a referral would help you, our intake team will explain how to get one. If you're having trouble getting a referral, our GPs may be a place to start.
Same-day appointments may be available with one of our GPs or care navigators. Psychology and psychiatry first appointments typically have one to three weeks of lead time. We always start with a short conversation to make sure you're matched with the right clinician.
Many are. Mental Health Care Plan rebates apply to psychology and psychiatry appointments. Some private health funds cover counselling and allied services. The Fees & Rebates page has a clear breakdown — we lead with the net cost after rebate so you can see what you'll actually pay.
Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can diagnose and prescribe; they often work with more complex presentations. Psychologists hold doctoral or master's-level training in psychology and provide therapy. Many people benefit from working with one or the other, or both as part of a care team — which is exactly what Saje is structured around.
Medication-Assisted Therapy is the term used in Australia for a structured therapeutic program that combines specific psychotherapies with regulated medicines, available only through TGA-authorised pathways and only for specific conditions. It is not appropriate for everyone, and access is determined through careful clinical assessment. Our Medication-Assisted Therapy page has more detail on what's involved and the pathway to access.
That's exactly what most people say when they first reach us — and we built Saje for that. Click 'Start here' and the first option is a free 20-minute call with our care coordinator. They'll listen, ask a few questions, and help you work out what fits — without committing you to anything.
Yes. Your privacy is protected by Australian health privacy law and by Saje's own protocols. We share information within your care team because that's how team-based care works. We don't share it outside the team without your consent — except in the rare circumstances where the law requires us to (for example, immediate safety concerns).
