About Dr Nicky Abitz

Nicky is a Clinical Psychologist and contemporary psychodynamic Psychotherapist who offers a warm, insightful space for healing and personal growth. Her approach is grounded in the Conversational Model, an evidence-based relational therapy. Sessions feel like a genuine conversation; a safe, accepting space that moves at your pace. Nicky works gently and respectfully with adults exploring: Trauma & Mood: Trauma recovery, treatment-resistant anxiety and depression, and psychedelic integration Relationships & Life Stages: Loneliness, relationship challenges, and women’s health across perinatal to midlife stages. Identity & Career: Existential anxiety, career dislocation, and navigating life transitions. Nicky sees therapy as two minds joining together to make sense of painful experiences, profound inner journeys, and the feelings that accompany them. Over time, what once felt stuck begins to shift; fears loosen, relationships improve, and a clearer, kinder story of one's own life starts to take shape, along with a greater sense of vitality, agency, and possibility. Nicky holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master of Science in Medicine (Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy), bringing over 20 years of private practice experience, acute inpatient psychiatric care, specialist perinatal work, and university teaching. An ANZAP-qualified clinical supervisor, she maintains professional memberships with ACPA, IARPP, and the International Marcé Society.
