About Ms Melissa Levi

Melissa Levi is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in older people’s mental health and dementia. She has more than 15 years of clinical experience, supporting over 1,000 older people and families through some of the most difficult parts of ageing and dementia. Melissa previously worked at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and has extensive experience supporting people experiencing memory and cognitive changes, dementia, depression, anxiety, grief, adjustment to illness and the psychological challenges of later life. A significant part of Melissa’s work is with the families of people living with dementia, who may be struggling with difficult changes in behaviour, increasing care needs, family conflict, grief or the question of “What do we do next?” Melissa’s approach is warm, practical and collaborative. She believes that families often don’t need more information. They need someone who can help them make sense of what is happening, work out what matters most, and offer clear, manageable next steps. On a personal note, Melissa has experienced dementia within her own family and understands that a diagnosis rarely affects one person. Melissa is the author of We Need to Talk About Ageing and founder of My Dementia Playbook, where she provides practical guidance to families navigating ageing, dementia and care. At the heart of Melissa’s work is a simple belief: dementia can change a great deal, but there can still be connection, meaning and good moments along the way.
